Legends of Tomorrow 2×17: “Aruba”

After last week’s body shattering (pun intended) adventure, the team is set to find the Wave Rider and return back to the Battle of Somme, during the WWI in 1916. Rip manages to escape S.T.A.R. Labs. Ray and Jax are successful in establishing contact with the teeny-tiny WaveRider. The Legends sneak into S.T.A.R. Labs to get Ray’s exoskeleton so that they can increase its size and save reality. Damien poses an obstacle in their way but they manage to get past him.

The team travel back to 1916, to get Christ’s blood so that they can destroy the Spear before the Legion gets their hand on it. Ray minimises himself and enters the battlefield and retrieves the vial containing the blood. As soon as he is about to exit, Eobard steps in and destroys the vial. Sara is watching from behind, and suddenly Thawne does something that shocks both me and Sara. For a moment, Ray was just standing there, with his mouth open, shocked, but after taking a look closely, I noticed that Thawne had taken out his freaking heart! Ray’s heart was in Thawne’s hands! Sara is forced by Rip to return to the WaveRider, as he tells her that there’s no point in going there.

The Legends decide to get the Spear from hidden WaveRider tin which their old selves had travelled. Sara and Jax stay outside whereas Rip, Nate and Ray enter the timeship after their past selves had left it. They manage to get the Spear, but due to Nate’s feeling for Amaya, they run out of time and get stuck in the WaveRider. Future Sara and Jax try to stop them from entering the ship, but the Sara in ship warns them and tells them that they are imposters. The future legends are captured but manage to explain to the present Legends why they broke the most important rule of time travel, i.e. meeting themselves from the past. Now there are two Saras. two Nates, two Rorys, two Jaxs and two Rips.

After talking to herself, Sara figures out a plan to tackle the problem with the Legion. Meanwhile, Nate explains the other Nate to tell Amaya how he feels about her so that he wouldn’t have any regrets with his life. All of them enter the Battlefield, and the legion of doom is already there, attacking their timeship. All of them start fighting, but future Jax dies saving Professor Stein, and Nate gets killed by Damien Dark. Sara finally get’s her revenge on Damien without killing him. Future Rory is killed by Snart. Then suddenly,  Eobard enters, with a LOT of back-up. He brought around 50 more reverse flashes from all over time to kill the legends. Sara starts using the Spear, and the Legends try to defends themselves from all copy-pastes. Sara is unable to do it, but after some encouragement from Rip, she enters a reality where her sister is alive and both of them are having fun. After an emotional chat with Laurel (Katie Cassidy), she changes the reality in which she de-powers the Spear of destiny.

All of the Legends are lying low, with only Sara and Eobard on the battlefield. Just when Thawne is about to kill Sara, his long lost fear Black Flash/Hunter Zolomon enters and kills him.

All the legends, happy with their victory, on Mick’s request, plot a course for Aruba, to celebrate, after wiping the memories of Damien and other remaining members of the Legion and placing them in different time lines. But their interaction with their prior selves created a time storm, that makes them leave the temporal zone and lands them into Los Angeles, California. But half of the buildings in the city are from the future, and I think I saw the Big Ben too. The other half were futuristic buildings, and one part of the city was inhabited by dinosaurs.

“Yup guys, you guessed right. The Legends broke time.”

The finale couldn’t have been better. With Eobard and most of the Legends getting killed, the breaking of time, this was way better than last season’s finale. The moment Black Flash killed Thawne, I was jumping with mixed emotions, because I didn’t understand how I should react when a villain gets killed and simultaneously one of DC’s biggest villains is murdered. I have no clue what the Legends will do in season 3, and according to other sources on the internet, Kamandi will be introduced in the next season. Who knows, when people have control over time, anything can happen.
